In the last decade we experienced the biggest shift in photography since the introduction of a fixer for developing black and white images. Digital technology revolutionized the medium and changed the way we hold the camera, and take the images, view and store them!

DSLR cameras let the wedding photographer choose an option of shooting either RAW or JPG. RAW file mean that the camera records the data of taken picture and expose on the camera's CCD (charge couple device). This is being stored on your compact flash card as a data only and needs to be processed later. JPG file however will be processed by the camera and all the settings (how the image should look like is chosen by the internal camera computer) The raw files are usually much bigger than the Jpg files due to dynamic range being 12, 14 or 16 bit color vs 8 bit in Jpg case

All images are initially recorded in RAW, however if a wedding photographer is shooting in JPG setting, the camera computer system automatically goes further and process the images internally. The main advantage for wedding photographers to take pictures in RAW format is the fact that they can work with all the image data captured by the camera sensor and it allows photographers to take advantage of much greater latitude of an image and further expose it to their needs.
